I have just updated my Company links section, in the column to the right, to include all of the companies I have done placements at since I was 16 year old. I have done at least one every year from 2004, excluding 2006, which was the year I left school and started my Art and Design Foundation Diploma. During that year I was concentrating on which area of design I wanted to enter, Graphic Design was the chosen one, although I very nearly went intoInterior design, but I went with my gut, and so changed my mind last minute and it paid off! I have learnt the most from my placements, as I truly believe the best way to learn is by doing.

: It’s Nice That Issue 3 Limited Edition Poster

Very nice addition to my already crowded walls! I removed the David Shrigley – “Everything is good”Poster. I like anything positive in my eye line to see when I wake up in the morning, and this is very appropriate in my opinion, as my eyes are naturally drawn to the words “very nice”, which is a nice thought to start the day with!

Cannot believe the summer has come to an end. Has ben one amazing summer, but as always has gone so fast. I think it will probably be my last summer holiday, next year this time I will either be in Italy, have a job, or doing a long term placement. Exciting!!

Am currently researching for my dissertation at the moment. Have a large pile of books in my room, all bookmarked, with relevant chapter, pages. Then I have bookmarked relevent articles online about woolworths and Tescos. I even found an article in which both companies were mentioned, was good!

Am getting really exciting about compiling this report. I have had fun playing with different possible ways of branding the whole project, which was a suggection from my tutors, which I eintirely agree with. I think I have found a logo, that I just need to tweek, and then I need to create an identity that holds the report together.

Talking about my dissertation takes me back to being in a really nice restaurant earlier on in the week, and whilst there I visited their toilet. I had to leave the resaturant, pass the bar, go down several flights of stairs, to enter a dingy bathroom, with teo toilet cubicles, one even out of order. It made me loose trust somehow in the restaurant. This I feel shows the importance of a company having a very strong brand identity, in order to create loyal customers, and not to allow the consumers to loose faith in what your company stands for.

So it is my private view tonight! Am excited and nervous at the same time. Have enjoyed preparing our studio into the exhibiton space, from the painting and cleaning to hanging up the work! Ooh now I am getting excited, the culmination of two years of working ridiculously hard is coming to an end! But it was all worth it, and I have learnt so much about graphic design and also about myself!
